Foundation of Apostles and Prophets

When Christ walked upon the earth, He assembled and created an organized church based upon Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ himself being the Chief Cornerstone. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is organized in this exact same way. Jesus Christ is the center or cornerstone of the religion. There are twelve apostles who continue to witness of Christ with a special witness of first hand knowledge, just as His ancient apostles did. As with Peter, the senior apostle is the mortal head of the church, or the prophet and president of the church by virtue of his status as the senior living apostle. It makes sense to me that after the initial organization of apostles were removed from the earth due to the wickness of the people in killing them, a restoration would be necessary. I know that this restoration has taken place and that God, through a 14 year old boy in upstate New York, appeared and introduced His Son, Jesus Christ and re-formed His church upon the earth, in a day and age where it could grow and prosper and bring light and happiness to those who find it.

A Further Witness of the Divinity of Jesus Christ

The first and central reason why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that the church provides a further witness of the Divinity of Jesus Christ. From biblical days God has communicated to man through prophets with a more sure witness of the divine. (Amos 3:7) It never made sense to me that after Christ's atonement God would forever stop speaking through and to living prophets who would testify strongly of the divinity and mission of Christ. The truth is that God has not stopped speaking and appearing to living men. There are prophets once more upon the earth who testify from their own personal knowledge of the reality and divinity of Christ and who know the will and mind of God for his people on the earth.
